Aygün Akif

I work in oil on canvas, mostly with a palette knife. What matters to me is the texture of the stroke and the vibration of colour: the motif — a cathedral, a garden, a figure — gradually dissolves into a flow of marks and light.

The recurring subjects are city architecture, southern gardens and female figures. Canvases range from 35×70 to 90×100 cm.
